The GHJammers (as it was originally known) site started in November, 2007, shortly after the release of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. It was originally intended to be a community home for the Jammer tour group, but was quickly embraced by several other tour groups. Shortly thereafter, it was opened to the public as a place to come, chat, and compete.
GHJammers maintained a unique position in the Guitar Hero community as the only unofficial site which regularly held tournaments that were also supported by the official site.
In April, the original founder lost interest in both the game and the site. For several months, the site stagnated, with only a few active regulars to keep it running. Recently, however, there has been a resurgence of interest in the site and, with a new image and some new goals, it hopes to grow again.
In September, the domain owner elected to move the domain to another location, so the site changed from GHJammers to GHShredders.
